Bettina and myself were down in the Algarve for the day last Friday… just a normal day in ClickandGo.com!! Aer Lingus have an early flight out and late flight back to Faro so we took advantage of that and planned a visit to ClickandGo’s newest destination on the Algarve, the fishing village of Olhao.

Olhao is just 15 minutes drive east of Faro airport along the coast towards Spain; it is marvellous destination for anyone who is looking to get back to nature or looking to experience the “Authentic Algarve”.

Olhao pronounced “All Yow” is the largest fishing village on the Algarve, it’ quite a large town with plenty of shops and restaurants. There is also an amazing fish and fruit & veg market, a great promenade along the seafront and all of this within a natural park. Olhao sits on the lagoon of the River Formosa. The lagoon makes up a huge part of the natural park and its home to the most amazing collection of fish and birds. You can even go dolphin watching here.

Naturally construction is limited because of the designated status of the natural park and this has protected this amazing coastline along the Algarve. Olhao itself has no beach but boats depart from the marina and the main harbour to cross the lagoon and bring people out to the surrounding sand islands.

The beaches on the islands of the lagoon are out of this world. For only a few Euros you get a boat trip to one of the islands and your day at the beach becomes a real day out, a real adventure.

The boats stop at Faro Island, the Barrier Islands or the appropriately named Desert Island which has a restaurant and bar! All of this is just 15 minutes drive from Faro airport making it the ideal destination if you want a short break away in the sun in a totally different type of place.

Olhao has none of the tacky commercialism of some other resorts. It’s a town favoured by the locals for the best fish restaurants on the Algarve and because it’s more local than touristy the prices are lower than other parts of the Algarve. If you’re looking for bars and clubs and crowds of people this is not the town for you. It’s really for couples and families who want something different from a sun holiday.

Olhao is a very lived in town with loads to do provided you like nature, boats and doing more than just lying by the pool. That said, the pool in our hotel, the 5* Real Marina & Spa has the most spectacular setting overlooking the coastal lagoon that you could very easily spend a few days chilling there taking in the warm sunshine.

ClickandGo.com has contracted 2 amazing properties in Olhao and we are the only Irish travel company featuring Olhao for 2012. We have the 5* Real Marina and Spa and the Real Marina Residence which are the stunning apartments next door to the hotel. The hotel itself is very modern and has around 190 rooms, half of which have sea view and I can’t recommend highly enough that you opt for a sea view room, it’s a small supplement but well worth it as the village view rooms really have no view at all by comparison. The hotel has a restaurant, bar, poolside bar, indoor pool, gym and spa.

The Marina Residence apartments are right next to the hotel and the hotel manages the 2 blocks closest to the hotel. Check in for the apartments are in the hotel but each block has 3 small swimming pools on the roof, with amazing views and lovely sun terraces. The apartments are very spacious, fully air conditioned and have 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms and the 2 and 3 bedroom apartments have 2 or 3 bathrooms. They have huge terraces with side sea views and fully equipped kitchens with a hob, full oven, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, kettle, toaster etc., they are superbly furnished.

The Real Marina Residence apartments are a real home from home, if you were to rate them by tourist standards they would easily be in the 4 to 5* range but there are not your typical tourist apartment. You don’t have reception down stairs and you don’t have a bar or restaurant on site but you’re only a short walk along the main street to the most incredible market and surrounded by great restaurants. Plus the hotel is next door and you can chose to go B&B in the apartments and take breakfast in the hotel next door.

Car hire would be good option if you want to get out and about and explore more but you really can do all the exploring you want by boat. In addition to the boat trips you can also hire a boat yourself for a half day or full day.

If you like what’s written here then you’ll love Olhao as it’s not easy to capture the nature and beauty of the place and it’s so unusual to find such great quality accommodation at the prices we have secured. The hotel and apartment prices in Olhao are also amazingly good value especially in the off peak months, by that I mean any time except July and August for the hotel and August for the apartments is pricey but bear in mind flights prices are always higher when the schools are on holidays and at weekends. To get the best prices fly midweek and use the price comparison tool on our site to find the best date to travel plus or minus 7 days either side of your preferred dates.

If you want any more info on Olhao just call or email Paul or Bettina in ClickandGo.com.

– Paul!

Dynamic packaging really came into its own when airlines like Ryanair and Aer Lingus started to fly to the traditional(more...)

Dynamic packaging really came into its own when airlines like Ryanair and Aer Lingus started to fly to the traditional sun holiday destinations like the Algarve, Costa del Sol, Majorca, Ibiza and the Canaries. Before that, Irish holiday makers were restricted to booking with tour operators who had charter flights to these destinations.

Dynamic packaging is the process by which a consumer “self packages” or puts together the elements of a package holiday themselves, it’s like DIY but for holidays.

It is estimated that close to 1 million holidays from Ireland are now dynamically packaged. In 2007 and 2008 there were approximately 1 million charter seats, for 2012 that number is down to less than 300,000. Naturally there has been a general decline in holidays in the recession but as scheduled airlines have increased the flights to sun destinations the number of holidaymakers DIY’ing their holiday dramatically increased. It’s not as if the package holiday is dead, it’s been totally re-invented

The advantages!!

Dynamic packaging gives you totally flexibility, you travel when you want to for any duration you want.

It is generally 20 to 25% cheaper than a standard package holiday bought from a tour operator. The price savings come about as you buy the flights directly from the airline and you’re not paying a travel agent 10% commission, which is the case with holidays from the tour operators brochures.

There is also generally a greater choice in terms of accommodation as you are not limited to the accommodation and dates in the tour operators’ brochure.

The disadvantages!!

If you are looking got a “last minute” holiday prices are not very competitive as scheduled airline prices tend to increase close to departure.

Some holiday companies who offer dynamic packaging insist on the flights being paid in full at the time of booking rather than just a deposit.

If you DIY your holiday and purchase all the elements separately, there is no holiday protection in the event that any of the companies supplying parts of the holiday fail.

By booking all the elements separately, the consumer can spend hours on various websites, entering the same data for all parts of the holiday. It is always worth investigating exactly what cover is offered by the companies who offer dynamic packaging.

How ClickandGo.com is a better solution for dynamic packaging

We are responsible for all aspects of the holiday – flights, transfers and accommodation

We developed an innovative, easy to use website that offers a one stop online travel shop for self packaging holidaymakers

The ClickandGo.com website contains a number of useful resources such as a price comparison tool & a flexible date’s price variation tool

We are fully licensed and bonded meaning that all our customers are fully protected

With us you pay a fixed deposit, even if the flights cost more, with the balance payable before departure

A holiday search on ClickandGo.com brings back the full holiday price and then shows you how much each element costs, so you see the price of the individual elements

We hand pick and inspect each individual accommodation provider in order to maintain a constant focus on quality & excellence

We have local support in all the destinations served, they don’t have reps but they have a local office contact number in the event of any problems

ClickandGo.com use Aer Lingus flights for all their holidays so we can guarantee quality

The flight price on ClickandGo.com is the exact same as if you booked directly on Aer Lingus.com

We are an Irish company, set up in May 2010, based in Dublin, open 7 days per week

We do not add on any credit or debit charges

I’m just back from a few days in Madeira where Jill and I went down to look at all the(more...)

I’m just back from a few days in Madeira where Jill and I went down to look at all the properties we have down there and I’m thrilled with everything we saw.

I was last in Madeira in 1989 and I came away quite disappointed BUT in the 23 years since my last visit, Madeira has been transformed. The road network and tunnels are amazing; there are more tunnels there than in Switzerland and getting around the island is now so easy. There has been massive investment in tourism; there are plenty of new hotels, much more in the way of shops, restaurants and bars. The island is transformed and it really is a brilliant holiday destination.

Funchal, the capital is a very pretty town. There is a great market most days, it boasts some beautiful public parks and gardens and it’s now a favoured port of call by many cruise ships.

The must do things in Funchal are to take the cable car from the sea front in the old town up to Monte where you may visit the public gardens and church where the tomb of the last Austrian Emperor, Charles is located. It’s a 1.5km cable car ride and the views are breathtaking. For something different you can take a taboggan back down but be warned these are pricey. You could continue from Monte to the stunning Botanical Gardens via cable car up to the gardens.

One other must do is to visit one of the traditional Madeira Wine Lodges, the most famous being Blandys. There are a small number of hotels in Funchal but the main tourist centre where most hotels are located is about 2 to 3 kilometres to the west of capital. It’s an easy walk into Funchal but the tourist centre built around the Lido area is the best place to be located for your holiday.

Most of our hotels are here, the Melia Madeira Mare, the Four Views Monumental, the stunning Cliff Bay, the Porto Mare Resort with the Eden Mar, the Alto Lido and the Baia Azul. These properties are all close to each and close to the waterfront and surrounded by restaurants and bars.

There are a number of key events every year in Madeira including the May flower festival, the Atlantic Festival and New Year fireworks. During the Flower Festival and at New year flights and hotels are busier so expect to pay a bit more.

Inspite of it’s amazing coastline Madeira does not boast many sandy beaches, there is a beach near Funchal at Praia Formaosa, it’s dark sand and pebbles. However all along where the hotels are located in the lido area it’s easy to get into the sea from the jetties.

We took a day trip to Cabo Girao and Porto Moniz, covering the west and north of the island. There are countless excursions options whilst on holidays in Madeira. I’d opt for the organised excursions over car hire here but the choice is yours. Either way you will never be short of things to do when on holidays in Madeira.

Our first stop was at Pico da Torre with splendid views over the picturesque town of Câmara de Lobos, this was one of Churchill’s favourite places on the island. The next stop at Cabo Girão, the world’s second highest sea cliff, and we then drove to the picturesque village of Ribeira Brava on the southwest coast. We then cut across the island and stopped off at Encumeada to enjoy the view over both sides of the island.

We had lunch in Porto Moniz on the north coast; it is the most western point of the island. There are stunning natural bathing pools here so bring the swim gear, the pools are set amongst the bizarre rock formations. There are also some great walks along the levadas all over the island. Madeira is a paradise for walkers, just wish we had more time to explore.

Madeira is actually part of an archipelago of islands and one of the nearby islands has great sandy beaches, that’s the island of Porto Santo. There are daily ferry and flight services from Funchal to Porto Santo. There are very few hotels there and it has a very laid back, chilled out feel, very much geared to the beach lovers.

There is plenty to do at night in Funchal, the Hole in One is a really nice bar, check out their facebook page and also O’Brien’s Irish bar near the CS Madeira hotel in the Lido is a great spot. Marginal, Jam and Vespas are the main nightspots and of the 3, Vespas would be the main nightclub on the island. The place to people watch and be seen is the very trendy Cafe do Teatro this is next to the municipal theatre.

If I was to say who is Madeira best suited to I’d say couples of all ages, from honeymoon couples right the way up the age scale. It is not particularly geared to families. It’s better suited to people who are looking for very good accommodation in beautiful surroundings.

The value doesn’t stop at the hotels, food and drink is also great value. We stayed in the 5* Melia Madeira Mare, it’s a great hotel and our top seller for holidays to Madeira. If you want something extra special I’d suggest the Cliff Bay or if you’re looking for a great 4* value, you’re spoiled for choice with the Alto Lida, Baia Azul, Porto Mare, Eden Mar and the Four Views Monumental.

All the hotels are on our website and we’ve visited each one so call or email us with any questions and we’ll be able to match you to the hotel that’s right for you.

Sata fly direct from Dublin every Sunday from May to November. It’s a three and half hour flight. Sata are a well established Portuguese airline which mainly serves the Azores and Madeira.

Madeira is exceptional value for money. You get excellent 4 & 5* hotels here for a fraction of the price in Spain and the Canary Islands. Madeira has to work harder to attract holidaymakers. Madeira is a quality destination in terms of accommodation, scenery, things to do and it’s great value for money, you should go, you’ll be back.

Must eat

Espada Black Scabbard fish, it is a soft white meat fish, mouth watering

Espetada These are cubes of beef, barbecued over wood and hung on skewers mounted on your table, the flavour is superb, check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuj_b9Jaq9o

A couple of things you may not know about Madeira…

It is home to the highest sea cliff in Europe and 2nd highest sea cliff in the world, see my photos of Cabo Girao

It is the most densely populated part of Portugal

Lots of people book flights for their holidays first and then later on, they have a think about what to do in terms of accommodation. There are countless websites offering hundreds and thousands of hotels and apartments and let’s face it, sometime the choice is just too much. If you’re heading to the Canaries or the Algarve, do you really want to be presented with over 5,000 options?

We’ve taken the hard work out of searching for the perfect place! We have personally chosen up to 40 properties in each destination so we know all our accommodation is good. These places have been chosen because of their popularity with Irish customers, good reviews, great locations and amazing value.

Some websites are lazy with the accommodation they feature, they literally have everything up there, but we’ve taken the time to choose the properties we know and where we can offer our customers the best value.

The great thing about buying accommodation from ClickandGo.com is that they know all the accommodation they feature. There is someone in the office you can talk to and help you make the right choice for your holidays.

How about 1 week in the Canaries in June or July from just €164 per apartment per week? If you’d prefer Turkey prices are from €174 per apartment for a week in June or from €228 per apartment for a week in July & August. Even Majorca is amazing value with apartments from just €218 per week and the Algarve is from €202 per apartment per week.

There are also some great “All Inclusive” deals on ClickandGo.com, a 4* in Tenerife for a week in June costs from just €265 per person and a 5* All Inclusive in Turkey costs from €266 per person. That price includes 7 nights’ accommodation, all your meals, snacks during the day and all locally produced drinks plus all your on-site entertainment.

Some hotels offer great family deals where the kids stay and eat free. The Beatriz Playa & Spa (a 4* beachfront property with a kids club, kids disco etc.) costs from €52 per person per night half board, based on 2 adults paying and 2 kids under 12 yrs stay and eat free. In July the price is from just €64 per person per night half board, based on 2 adults paying and 2 kids under 12 yrs stay and eat free. So the total cost for a family of 4 for 1 week in May or June half board is €724 or in July it’s just €896 for the entire family.

ClickandGo.com also have amazing city hotels deals, year round, cities like Budapest, Vilnius and Lisbon start at around €21 per person per night in 3 or 4* hotels. Madrid 3* hotels start from just €25 per person per night in July, Berlin 3* hotels start at just €26 per person in July and August. Even Rome is great value with 3 * hotels from just €31 per person per night in July dropping to €26 in August.

You can also add on transfers or car hire and then your holiday is totally sorted, the choice is yours. These days it is all about “designing your own holiday”.

So if you have already booked your flights and are looking for great accommodation deals, log on to ClickandGo.com and tick the ‘Accommodation Only’ button!

We love to hear how all our customers got on while on holidays and encourage everyone to write into us to let us know how their Click and Go experience went. AJ recently spend a few nights in Krakow, Poland and really enjoyed his trip and dealing with ClickandGo.com..

Check out how he got on…

Quick Click to Go…!

We’re just back from a wonderful four days in Krakow, Poland. Usually, we visit a European city for a long weekend early in the year. To be able to book both flight and hotel together was a plus, especially as the accommodation was of a much higher standard than expected.

Krakow is our first experience of Poland. It’s a stunning city and all attractions are within walking distance. The cafe culture has been alive and kicking here for over a century with a huge variety of locations to get your caffeine fix and a cake to remember.

Chocolatiers dot the city often in tandem with cafes and Parisians and Viennese folk would be impressed by their offerings. Much of our time was spent in the vast Old Square with its plethora of majestic buildings and the absence of traffic makes it doubly desirable. Krakow wasn’t bombed during World War 2 though the horrors of Auschwitz is only 40 miles away.

The enormous Wawel Castle is a major focal point and this together with many beautiful churches and other historical buildings gives you plenty to explore. There are electric taxis should the weather turn wet or if you’re just feeling lazy. Your Euro goes far further here and eating out costs about a third less than at home in Ireland.

A visit to Schindler’s factory made famous by the Stephen Spielberg movie is a must. It’s now a museum that features much more than the story of a German entrepreneur saving lives and gives a great insight into the war from every perspective. A monster shopping centre at the main train station which dwarfs even Dundrum will satisfy all buying needs.

Krakow Prague

The highlight of our visit was a guided tour of Auschwitz. We were picked up by bus from our hotel and given a remarkable insight over several hours into the plight of the 1.3 million victims. It’s not for everyone but for those debating whether to go, it has to be said that the tour is carried out in a very respectful and dignified way. Most of the structures are as they were 67 years ago and seeing the detailed prison records and artefacts is jaw dropping.

Auschwitz Krakow Poland

Our hotel was minutes from the Central Station and is probably the best three star we’ve stayed in. Staff were extremely attentive and helpful. Our room was spotless, airy and warm. Breakfast with fresh breads, five cheeses, yoghurts, juices, fruit, eggs, sausages and rashers kept us going until well into the afternoon.

This was our first Aer Lingus flight in two years and we had forgotten how friendly and enthusiastic the staff are. A bus at the airport takes you the short distance to the train which moves you into Krakow swiftly and you pay your fare on board.

It was colder than expected though the great welcome, hassle free travel and stay left us fully relaxed with many warm memories. ClickandGo.com do exactly what it says on the tin plus you’ll be surprised at the value you get.

I’m just back from a week in Gran Canaria and as you’d expect in February the weather was perfect. Sunny in the day, 22 to 24 degrees centigrade cool at night, no rains and there were very few clouds in the sky. It is generally cooler in the Canary Islands in the summer than it is in the Med due to the Atlantic breezes, making the islands the perfect year round destination.

I was down on holidays but I took 2 days out to meet with our local agent, Diana and to visit the accommodation. We have great agents in every destination, we work hard with them to get the best for ClickandGo.com and Diana is one of the absolute best you can get.

Gran Canaria has been a sun holiday destination for over 30 years. The first resort to be developed was San Agustin, and then came Playa del Ingles and then Maspalomas. At some points in the late 70’s, early 80’s, the famous Irish architect Sam Stephenson came up with a development plan for Puerto Rico, on the southern most tip of the island. This resort became and still is a huge favourite with the Irish.

Playa del Ingles

Playa del Ingles was massively popular with the Irish over the years. Properties such as the Broncemar, Danubio, Corona Roja and Blanco, Jardin del Atlantico, Agaete Park, Green Field, Garden and Park are all well known to Irish holiday makers. These properties are built around an area known locally as the Irish centre. The resort itself is very large and stretches for at least 4 kms from San Agustin down to the dunes in Maspalomas. The main hotel and apartment complexes were built around large shopping centres which in addition to shops had plenty of restaurants, bars and clubs. The main shopping centres are the Jumbo, the Cita, the Kasbah and the Aquila Roja which became known as the Irish centre.

We have 2 excellent IFA hotels in Playa del Ingles.

The IFA Catarina is the 4*hotel, close to the dunes. For value in the 4* hotel range it’s impossible to beat this property and the large bedrooms can take 2 adults and 2 children. In the summer the kids club is brilliant and the entertainment is second to none.

The IFA Buenaventura close to the Kasbah is an excellent 3* hotel. It’s in the heart of Playa del Ingles and like it’s sister hotel, offers unbeatable value but this time in the 3* hotel category. Anyone who wants to be within walking distance to the beach and close to all that Playa del Ingles has to offer just book this hotel. The food is great, the rooms are large, and there are great pool areas in the hotel, chill out zones for peace and quiet and full on for those looking for plenty of activity.

Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico has really come on with the marina looking fab. We have 2 amazing properties over there, The Morasol and the Marina Suites. Both are superb 4* properties with amazing apartment accommodation backed up by excellent hotel facilities. We also have the ever popular Mayaguez apartments. There are just 15 apartments in this block, situated near the beach in Puerto Rico, so a truely amazing location, brilliantly run by Juan. Staying here is like staying in your own private apartment as it s cosy and so affordable.

I’m delighted that we in ClickandGo.com have this property exclusively for the Irish market and it just sells and sells. Don’t be put off by the 1 key rating, that means nothing to the people who come back here year after year. The Mayaguez is unique in Puerto Rico, it’s got the location everyone wants, a pool for just the 15 apartments so it’s never busy, a great sun terrace and Jacuzzi on the roof and every apartment has great sea views.

Costa Meloneras

My personal favourite area is Costa Meloneras, this is a newly developed area heading south along the coast from the light house at the end of Maspalomas, the Faro Lighthouse. Over the last ten years a new conference centre and about six new hotels and a shopping centre have opened up down here. Costa Meloneras and Boulevard el Faro which runs along the coast really is a tribute to the Lopesan people. This was a bit of a waste land before they moved and they have done a great job. It’s all really good 4 & 5* hotels, great restaurants, cafes, shops and bars. It’s really tasteful and price wise is more or less the same as the rest of the island but the standards are way above most other location on the island. I really recommend El Faro, Grand Italia, the 19th Hole and Sushi Mex for some great food. The walk from the Faro lighthouse up to Playa Meloneras is about 2 kms and it’s a great stroll along the coast.

Maspalomas

We have some great properties in Maspalomas too, that’s the area between Playa del Ingles and the Costa Meloneras. Most of the accommodation in Maspalomas is low rise, bungalow type developments, so the accommodation is of a good standard, in a great location, not far from the beach and close to the night life in “Playa”. The island really has re-invented itself and it’s paying off as can be seen by how busy the entire island is. The local government are not allowing any new hotels to be built, if a developer wants to build a new hotel they have to buy an existing property and re-develope it. That’s wise and makes perfect sense as there are plenty of older properties which could do with a complete makeover.

One other great advantage of the Canary Islands is that they are tax free so shopping is amazing value. As it’s a year round resort, accommodation rates actually fall in the summer as the Canary Islands have more competition during the summer months than in the winter, so summer is usually a better time to travel from a price perspective and the weather in the summer is very good, not too hot given the islands location in the Atlantic, so there is always a cooling breeze.

Check out our sun holiday deals to all Gran Canaria resorts now and give us a shout if you want any more!

All the best

–Paul!

Then talk to us for the best advice. We are holiday experts with over 20 years experience in travel. We know all our destinations and properties inside and out!

One of our key objectives when we set up ClickandGo.com was to offer a personally selected range of accommodation in each destination. We did not want to waste people’s time by offering hundreds of properties on our site. We feel it’s our job to take the time and choose the accommodation that sells best on the Irish market and to also feature new accommodation and resorts as they come onboard. We select our properties based on location, value, quality and popularity.

Knowing the accommodation we offer allows us to make sure you are buying the right accommodation based on your particular needs. We’re very happy to chat on the phone, or on the live chat facility on our site or by email to help with you accommodation choice as it such an important part of your holiday. We’re different from other holiday companies who try and force you to buy accommodation where they have to fill those beds first.

Our business model is customer centred, YOU decide everything. YOU design your own holiday. YOU chose when you depart and YOU pick the duration. You also have total freedom to choose where you stay. If you have a favourite that we don’t have on our site, ask us to request it for you. The chances are our local offices in the destinations will be able to get it for us and if we see demand for the property we’ll add it to ClickandGo.com.

When we say we offer a personally selected range of accommodation, we mean it. We have hotels, apartments and apart hotels. We have everything from 1 to 3 keys, the official rating system in Spain for apartments and from 3 to 5* and even some exceptional 5* Gran Luxe hotels.

We have accommodation for families travelling with very young kids or teenagers and for the 4 to 15 year olds we have lots of accommodation with great kids’ club facilities. Some of our properties are adults only, some are geared to the young and lively market, some for the over 50’s, some for pure beach babes and some absolute gems, such as those in Puerto Pollensa on the north coast of Majorca.

So with ClickandGo.com’s selection, there is plenty of choice, exceptional value and we’ve done the hard work so we can offer you the best available in all the destinations we feature. Even for our city selection, we’ve done our homework.

For city breaks you want to stay in the city, not in the suburbs and not at the airport. Here we chose our hotels and apartments based on location, location, location, quality and value. For all our properties we place huge relevance on customer reviews, be that trip advisor or other review sites.

I’m writing this from my terrace in Gran Canaria. I’ve just visited all our accommodation down here, plus some possible new hotels. I’m off to Fuerteventura tomorrow to see all our accommodation there. Bettina from our office is just back from the same sort of property inspection trip to Tenerife and Lanzarote.

I also visited all the Algarve accommodation in January this year and last year, Andrea was in Ibiza, Jill was in Majorca, Bettina visited the Costa del Sol and I was in Sitges. So we have covered all the Canary and Balearic Islands, the most important destinations in mainland Spain and also our top selling destination, the Algarve.

I’ll be visiting Nice in early March and we’ll also be getting Italy, the Lisbon Coast and Madeira visited before the main summer season kicks off.

This demonstrates the importance we place on knowing the accommodation we offer. We only sell accommodation we can stand over and we want to help you with you accommodation selection, so please do speak to us and we’ll give you the best advice to match what you’re looking for from your holidays.

All the best from sunny Gran Canaria – Paul!

Disneyland Paris is a place where childhood dreams become reality. Last year, my girlfriend and I decided to pay this famous park a visit during our time in France. On the day we got up early in the hope to beat the queues and took the train from Paris straight to the park. We were there in no time and to our surprise, the queue was not nearly as bad as we expected.

It was a ten/fifteen minute wait to get our tickets which for a day pass with access to all amusements were reasonable enough at €56 per ticket. But definitely get there as early as you can if you are not staying within the resort.

After getting our tickets, the first thing we saw was the on-site hotel which looked like a huge dolls house. It’s hard to miss and a great sight to get excited about what was ahead of us!

When we entered the main plaza it was like stepping onto the set of a classic Disney film. To either side of us where souvenir shops and restaurants and directly ahead of us, like a mirage was a sight that stirred my inner-child: The famous tapering spires of the Disney Castle. Looking around, we quickly got our bearings and went exploring.

Out of all the rides we saw, we quickly decided that ‘Space Mountain’, a roller-coaster would be our first port of call. We had never been on a roller-coaster before and were anxious to experience one for the first time. As we dropped into our seats there was a building anticipation for the ride to begin. Once it began, I was pushed back into my seat and couldn’t open my eyes. My girlfriend screamed as we were tossed around like rag dolls. And just like that, it was over as soon as it began. Everyone made their way off the roller-coaster and there were quite a few white faces.

After regaining our composure and appetite, we headed to an “all-you-can-eat” restaurant themed after ‘Pizza Planet’ from the Toy Story animated movie. For €17 I stuffed myself with more pasta than I care for. With full bellies, we wandered around the park and took pictures. My personal favourite: Me next to a massive X-Wing fighter from Star Wars.

The park is huge and is split into various ‘lands’. These areas are Frontierland (Wild West), Fantasyland (A chance to experience the fairytales that inspired many Disney films), Adventureland (Pirates of the Caribbean theme) and Discoveryland (Toy Story and Sci-Fi themed). Each area has its own unique buildings, rides and attractions. There are also a number of shops, restaurants, cafes, amusements and merchandise stands dotted throughout the park itself.

Overall, the park is great for adults and children alike. There is plenty to keep the children occupied and parents astounded. If you have not been, I would highly recommend to anyone!

At Click and Go, we have great selection of hotels around Disneyland Paris with Aer Lingus flights to and from Charles De Gaulle airport. Check out our Paris Disneyland City Breaks now!

Here at ClickandGo.com we know how important choice is to the consumer. Choice doesn’t always have to mean hassle though!

Booking your holiday with us is easy and better value than booking your flights and hotel separately. We encourage people who usually DIY their holiday to book with us. Why? It’s easier, cheaper and saves you time!

Because holidays are important, they should be stress free and that’s why here at ClickandGo.com we only use Aer Lingus for all our European Sun Holidays and City Breaks.

We’ve got the exact same fares as you’ll find on Aer Lingus.com so you’re getting the same great fare and as Aer Lingus say themselves “Great Care, Great Care”.

As a family, travelling with Aer Lingus really is stress free. Your holiday begins once you are booked. There is no hassle at the airport like “Is my bag one mili gram over the limit?” “Will the baggage police harass me?”, “Will we get sitting together?” All that stress is gone.

Aer Lingus always have been about great customer service, their staff at the airport treats you with respect, and they value your business and want you to enjoy your flight. Your seats are all pre-allocated so you know you can all sit together and onboard that great service continues.

We also make it easy for you when it comes to choosing your accommodation. We have handpicked the very best and most popular accommodation for you in each resort. We don’t have thousands of properties on our site, we offer you best accommodation in Europe based on quality, value, location and of course customer feedback and reviews.

When you arrive we’ll transfer you to your resort by shuttle bus or private transfer, the choice is yours. Naturally private transfers cost a little more but they get you to your accommodation fast and the transfer is just for you and your family, no one else, no hanging around waiting for someone who lost a suitcase.

Then when you’re in the resort we have a local office contact for you, 24 hours a day in the event that you need any assistance. Before you go our office in Dublin is staffed 7 days a week by people who know the accommodation and can answer all your questions.

Divided by the Danube yet harmonious in its charm, a trip to Budapest presents a remarkable jaunt through a melting(more...)

Divided by the Danube yet harmonious in its charm, a trip to Budapest presents a remarkable jaunt through a melting pot of Central European cultures, civilisations & architectural brilliance. Often referred to as Paris of the East or The Pearl of the Danube, it’s easy to see why.

This city of two towns, Buda to the West and Pest to the East, boasts enough sky piercing spires, ample baroque, neoclassical & art nouveau architectural to match the most magnificent. Budapest is a thriving destination with a bustling bohemian nightlife, countless significant historic sights, a splendid shopping scene and an efficient public transport system. Most of all, it’s cheap and very, very cheerful!

Laden with a string of decorated bridges, with the robust Széchenyi Chain Bridge the pick of the pack, the River Danube is adorned with many of Budapest’s most impressive sites. From the echelons of the towering Castle District, which oozes a middle age vibe through it’s romantic, narrow streets, cobbled pathways & quaint colourful terraces, the emphatic Royal Palace building overlooks the flattened Pest below. Embrace the true splendour of the Castle district on a stroll along the surreal Fishermans Bastion for inspiring overviews of the city, especially towards the strikingly magnificent Parliament building, the largest building in Hungary. However, for the pinnacle cityscape sight, a trip up Gellert Hill gives the most impressive panoramic views of the majestic skyline of this powerful city. Check out the immaculately restored Matthias Church in the heart of the Castle District for, especially it’s stunningly colourful, diamond patterned roof!

Across the river, the spiralling trek up to the rooftop of St Stephens Bascilica (which houses the actual mummified hand of St Stephen!) is certainly one to tick while the trek across the city towards the towering Heroes Square Monument takes in the elegant décor of the state opera building before looping back through the characterful Jewish Quarter towards the lively, colourful Great Market Hall where many crafts, delicacies & trinkets a ’plenty can be discovered.

But what makes Budapest a great destination? Simple. The Baths. Budapest’s greatest trait. It’s paragon of eloquence. A Hungarian twist on the traditional Turkish baths, Budapest utilises it’s ample supply of natural water springs to power a vast number of public baths across the city. For tourist’s the popular choice is between the Gellert Baths and the Szechenyi baths.

A welcome break from the heel hammering tourist trails, Budapest baths radiate authenticity. Not only is it a relaxing, refreshing experience but the bath complexes are architecturally beautiful, presenting a unique opportunity to unwind with the locals in an authentic, therapeutic & setting.

Budapest offers an abundance of excellent nightlife options. From the crumbling, bohemian ruin bars of the Jewish District to the more elegant surrounds of Liszt Ferenc Tér’s hot spots (a square bustling with cafes, bars & restaurants), Budapest has something for all. There’s even an Irish Bar or two for those that way inclined. For food, one won’t be left wanting with a rich selection of great value local fare, western cuisine and fast food outlets dotted across the city.

Bursting with so much more to see, getting around Budapest couldn’t be easier. With an extensive & easy to understand tram network, shuffle onto one of the old fashioned, retro looking trams to uncover another district to this multifaceted town. Budapest also hosts the second oldest underground metro system in the world – an excellent way to pop around town for a mere forint or two!

Prettier & friendlier than Prague with all the glamour & elegance of its French compatriot. Budapest certainly lives up to its reputation as Paris of the East. Budapest guarantees fantastic value, an authentic experience and a relatively close escape to a vibrant, historic, progressive city.

We have great city breaks to Budapest on our website all include Aer Lingus flights and centrally located hotels. For example 3 nights from May 2nd would only cost €220 per person for 3 nights in a fab 4* city centre hotel and Aer Lingus flights from Dublin! Search city breaks on our website for more dates and more great value deals.
